Bayern keeper Neuer doubtful for league match against Leipzig

Bayern Munich goalkeeper Manuel Neuer is doubtful for the Bundesliga match against RB Leipzig on Saturday.

"Manuel Neuer hasn't trained yet. We need to see how he feels today. Everyone else has trained except Jamal Musiala," Bayern coach Vincent Kompany said in a news conference on Friday.

Neuer missed the Champions League match against Viking FK on Tuesday and his absence came just three days after he produced two uncharacteristic errors in his side's 2-2 Bundesliga draw at Augsburg.

However, Kompany insisted before the Champions League match that Neuer's absence was a precautionary measure due to a minor foot issue.

Ahead of the home games against Leipzig, he said: "I don't want to be the doctor. It's something with his foot. He needs to feel better about it, then he'll train when he can."

Should Neuer be forced to miss another game, Jonas Urbig is once again to be the starting goalkeeper.

Bayern have struggled to find their best form since the season resumed following a three-week international break.

After dropping points against Augsburg, they were also held to a 3-3 draw by Viking. In both matches, the Bavarians conceded a goal within the first two minutes played.

Kompany, however, stressed that his team is "still motivated."

"We've got weeks coming up where we can look forward to every game and test ourselves against the best. That does something to a team. Our foundation is lots of energy and running hard," he said.

"We've had that foundation, but also enjoyment of the game. The guys go to the limit in every training session. You can do your talking on the pitch in these moments."

Bayern are third in the Bundesliga standings, two points behind leaders Freiburg.
