Drunk Oktoberfest guest throws log at taxi driver in cleaning fee row

A drunk Oktoberfest visitor vomited in a taxi and then threw a log at the driver during a dispute over cleaning costs, also threatening him with an axe, police said on Sunday.

The 29-year-old is now under investigation.

According to police, the dispute broke out in the town of Starnberg to the south-west of Munich after the intoxicated passenger could not agree with the taxi driver on the cost of cleaning the vehicle. 

When a second taxi driver rushed to help his colleague, the 29-year-old became physical, police said. A mutual altercation broke out, leaving the passenger and the second driver with slight injuries.

The passenger then grabbed an axe from a nearby front garden and threatened one of the drivers with it. He then put the weapon down and threw a log instead - but missed his target and hit the first taxi driver on the arm.

Because the 29-year-old was heavily intoxicated, the public prosecutor's office ordered a blood test. He and the second taxi driver who had rushed to the scene are now both under investigation.
