A gingerbread heart for Kane and lots of praise for magical Olise

Bayern Munich's last duty before a three-week international break will be a team visit to the Oktoberfest on Sunday and the mood should be excellent after their 7-0 triumph over Union Berlin.

"I think we'd waited for a game like this this season. Our performance was at the highest level from start to finish," striker Harry Kane said after Friday's big win. "It should be a fun weekend after this result."

Kane played his part in Bayern's best game of the season as he became the fastest player to reach 100 Bundesliga goals, taking his tally to 101 with a brace. 

Michael Olise had his first senior career hat-trick and set up two others, Jamal Musiala further boosted his morale after difficult months with a goal and summer signing Ismail Saibara netted his first Bundesliga goal on a memorable evening.

Champions Bayern may not be top of the table come Sunday - Freiburg and Borussia Dortmund can continue their perfect start on Saturday - but the performance should make the trip to the famous beer fest a pleasant affair.

Kane record

Kane needed only 98 matches since his arrival in 2023 to reach the century as he shattered the former mark of 129 matches from Dieter Müller by almost a full season.

"I'm very proud of it - to reach 101 Bundesliga goals now. In the short time I've been here, I've loved every second of it," the England captain said.

Kane received an Oktoberfest gingerbread heart with the number 100 on it, but the Man of the Match award went to the impressive Olise who beside his three goals also had an assist and set up a penalty converted by Kane.

Magical Olise

"He's done a lot of work on those shots in training. Top players also need more than talent. There's a lot of hard work behind it," coach Vincent Kompany said in praise of his French winger.

Kane said Olise was "in a great environment" in Munich "to continue improving. It was nice to see the smile on his face. I love players like Michael, he is a great character. He could be the best player in the world one day."

As usual, Olise did not talk post-match, and although Kane said he was very different in the dressing room he confirmed with a loud laugh that "Michael's" was the shortest of a few post-match speeches in the dressing room.

Happy Musiala

Musiala also had reasons to be happy after opening the scoring in classy fashion in only his second start of the season. 

He broke his leg badly in July 2025 and was still not himself as Germany were dumped out of the World Cup this June in the last 32. The 23-year-old then collapsed on the pitch twice in two pre-season friendlies due to absence seizures.

"I feel really good. Every game is a step forward. I know there's still steps ahead, but it's a great feeling being on the pitch for 90 minutes again. I haven't done that for a long time. I'm excited for what's to come now," Musiala said.

Looking at the match, he added: "It takes a lot of work for a win like this. We showed that today and put in a lot of energy until the final minute. That's what we need over 90 minutes in every game."

Bayern return from the international break with an October 10 match at Bavarian neighbours Augsburg.
