Bayern's Eberl says team needs 'to be at 100% in every game'

Bayern Munich board member for sport Max Eberl said that the lesson learned from the 2-1 win against Bundesliga debutants Elversberg is that the team needs "to be at 100% in every game."

"The most important thing in the end is that we won. Respect to Elversberg. They play bravely, don't get ruffled and are always a threat. The lesson for us that we won but also that things can be dangerous with a little less," he said.

"You need to be at 100% in every game. We were a bit too contained after going ahead, but we then had to come out after 1-1. I think several teams will struggle here."

Goalkeeper Jonas Urbig also agreed that "lots of teams will struggle here, so we're happy about the three points."

Urbig received a start with Manuel Neuer rested. The young keeper is among the candidates to be Germany's new number one when new coach Jürgen Klopp names his first squad on Thursday for four Nations League games.

Elversberg, one of the smallest clubs ever in the Bundesliga from a Saarland district of just 13,000, had won their first two games in the German top flight. 

Bayern put an end to their perfect start, but the Bavarians had to fight hard to win Sunday's clash. 

"Our tempo today wasn't good. We weren't there in the duels like we normally are. Elversberg did well in all areas. They were very brave on the ball," Bayern coach Vincent Kompany said. 

"Obviously, we had our moments and could've scored more goals, but on the whole we played against a tough opponent and are happy with the three points."

After three games, Bayern are fourth in the Bundesliga standings, two points behind leaders Freiburg.
