German industrial output falls 1.1% in July driven by automotive slump

7.09.2026, 13:28

Production in Germany's manufacturing sector dropped in July due to a significant decline in the automotive industry, the federal statistics office in Wiesbaden said on Monday.

Seasonally and calendar-adjusted, total production fell by 1.1% in July compared with the previous month, based on preliminary data.

The June figure was also revised downwards from the figure provided in August.

Contrary to analyst expectations, production did not increase slightly in June, but instead stagnated at the previous month's level.

Compared with the same month last year, manufacturing fell by 1.6% in July.
