Dortmund don't include Can in Champions League squad list

Borussia Dortmund didn't include captain Emre Can in the Champions League squad list submitted to European football ruling body UEFA, the Bundesliga club said on Friday.

The 32-year-old defender has been sidelined since March due to a cruciate ligament tear, but he was still expected to make a comeback this year.

Newcomer Giannis Konstantelias and young talent Justin Lerma were also not included on the list.

Konstantelias ruptured the cruciate knee ligament in the Bundesliga opener against SV Hamburg last weekend, while Lerma is also injured.

Dortmund can register new players for the Champions League at the end of January if they advance to the knock-out stage.

The German team opens the league phase against Villarreal on Tuesday.
