Müller and Hummels acquire shares in Portuguese club Estrela Amadora

Former Germany players Thomas Müller and Mats Hummels have acquired shares in Portuguese club Estrela Amadora.

The duo, alongside Swiss goalkeeper Yann Sommer and France defender Lucas Hernandez, are part of an international consortium led by the investment firms ADvantage and LEAD that acquired a majority stake of 90% of the club's holding company (SAD), the Portuguese side said in a statement.

"The new shareholder structure brings together investors with experience in the areas of sports, investment and technology, and also includes a group of strategic investors linked to international football," the statement read.

Following the conclusion of the process, Johannes Mösmang will take over the presidency of the SAD.

Mösmang has spent the past decade working in the professional players' department of Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich.

The new administration aims to focus on the sporting and institutional development of the club and on creating conditions for sustainable and competitive growth, the statement said.

"We are very motivated to begin this new chapter and build, in a disciplined and sustainable way, a project that the fans, the community and everyone who is part of Estrela can be proud of," Mösmang said.

After two years in the second division, Estrela Amadora returned to the Portuguese top tier in the 2023-24 season. Last term, they finished the league in 15th.
