Body of missing German sailor found off Greek island

A German sailor missing for days in the southern Aegean has been found dead, Greek media reported on Saturday, citing the coastguard.

His body was recovered in the waters west of the island of Symi.

The man had been sailing off the southern Aegean island on Sunday evening last week with three other men and four women when the German group decided to go for a swim.

Whilst they were in the water, the boat was swept away by the current, the Greek news agency ANA-MPA reported, meaning the members of the group were unable to get back on board

Two of them managed to swim ashore, whilst five holidaymakers had to be rescued. The eighth person remained unaccounted for until his lifeless body was located.
