Kompany: Pre-season with incomplete squad a puzzle we have to solve

Bayern Munich coach Vincent Kompany admitted that starting the pre-season with a incomplete squad it's "a different puzzle we have to solve," but he's confident the Bundesliga champions will make the most out of it.

"Everyone is returning at different times, with some coming back from rehab, and we want to integrate them gradually. It's a different puzzle we have to solve. But we'll get the match sharpness and physical fitness we need, I'm sure of that," Kompany said in a news conference on Monday.

"It's a puzzle, but not an impossible one. We're very confident! And the most important thing is that those returning from injury can be reintegrated properly."

Bayern are in Jeju in South Korea, where they will face Jeju SK on Tuesday as part of their summer tour.

"The first thing I told the players was: We're here, and part of this week involves attending promotional and media engagements. We've also got matches in another country. But this is pre-season, we have to work hard and take it seriously, doing exactly the same as we do in Munich or anywhere else," Kompany stressed.

Bayern defender Kim Min Jae, who's a South Korea native, said the trip is "a very special time" for him.

"I'm really happy to be here with the team, this is a very special time for me in Korea. Tomorrow we're playing Jeju SK, and we'll be able to learn a lot from each other. I'm looking forward to tomorrow," he said.

The club's summer tour also includes a stop in Hong Kong, where they will play a friendly match against Aston Villa.
