Bayern Munich's Japan international Momoko Tanikawa says she is fond of the cuisine in Bavaria but often sticks to her roots when it comes to food.

"I like pretzels and I also really like eating those white sausages," the 21-year-old forward told dpa on Tuesday ahead of the German women's doubles winners heading to Japan for a pre-season tour.

Yet when she cooks with others in Munich, it is "almost always gyoza" - Japanese dumplings.

She is, though, making the most of her time in Munich away from football.

"My mother and a friend of hers came to Munich to visit me. Then we went to the Oktoberfest together, and my mother and her friend ordered these huge one-litre beer steins and had a lot of fun," she added.

In addition to four training sessions, media obligations and sponsor appointments in Japan from Wednesday, Bayern women will also play a friendly on Saturday at RB Omiya - a Japanese second-tier club owned by Red Bull.
