Six German soldiers have been injured after being struck by lightning, police said on Wednesday.
The soldiers, aged between 18 and 26, were sheltering in a mountain bivouac during a thunderstorm in the Garmisch-Partenkirchen district of Upper Bavaria early on Wednesday morning, according to the report.
Five of them sustained minor injuries, while the other is said to have suffered moderate injuries.
As it was initially unclear how many people were affected, several ambulances and emergency vehicles were dispatched to the scene.
All those injured were taken to hospital, and are expected to make full recoveries. The police said there are strong indications that one of them, an 18-year-old, was struck directly by lightning.
