German starts 70km run around every Bundesliga stadium

A German runner has started his project 18 Chapters on the hottest weekend of the year.

Alexander "Sanja" Maier embarked on a 70-kilometres run around the stadium of Bundesliga club Bayer Leverkusen on Saturday and plans to do the same around the areas of the other 17 top flight clubs in the coming months.

His "Bundesliga ultra marathon" will cover a total distance of 1,260km and he will stream all runs live on social media.

“It’s not about the pace or the time for me; I want to complete the 70 kilometres in these conditions,” said Maier during his live broadcast from Leverkusen, where temperatures of around 37 degrees Celsius were forecast.
