German candidates for Olympic bid submit their final proposals

Berlin, Munich, and the Rhine-Ruhr region have submitted their final proposals for a potential German Olympic bid to the German Olympics body DOSB, the organization said in a statement on Friday.
Submitting the documents was a mere formality, as the three candidates had already cleared the key aspects.
"The proposals from Berlin, Cologne-Rhein-Ruhr, and Munich meet all the requirements of the first two selection stages," the DOSB said.
The process began with an assessment of the operational feasibility of the proposals, followed by an evaluation of political and public support.
Munich and the Rhine-Ruhr region have secured clear public approval for their plans in referendums. Berlin had no referendum but parliamentary approval. Hamburg withdrew its bid after citizens voted against it.
The DOSB is to choose its candidate on September 26. Germany is aiming to bid for the Olympic and Paralympic Games in 2036, 2040 or 2044.
Germany has hosted Summer Olympics 1936 in Berlin and 1972 in Munich.
