Hundreds join queue for autograph session with Germany's Neuer

Hours before the start of the event, hundreds of fans joined a long queue for an autograph session with goalkeeper Manuel Neuer at Germany's training camp in Herzogenaurach in Bavaria.

Around 500 fans were already in line some one and a half hours ahead of the goalkeeper's scheduled appearance. They were all hoping to get an autograph or a picture with the Bayern Munich player.

Due to the warm and sunny weather, many fans had camping chairs and umbrellas.

The sponsor event marks Neuer's first public appearance for Germany as the squad prepares for the World Cup in the United States, Mexico, and Canada.

Neuer retired from the national team after Euro 2024, but was called back by coach Julian Nagelsmann and will be Germany's starting goalkeeper during the World Cup.

Due to a minor calf injury, however, he will miss the tune-up match against Finland on Sunday.

Hoffenheim's Oliver Baumann, who had been set to be Germany's number one at the World Cup before Neuer's dramatic return, will stand between the posts.

But the Bayern keeper is expected to be available for the opening match against Curaçao on June 14.

Germany also face Ivory Coast (June 20) and Ecuador (June 25) in Group E.
