Florian Wirtz hopes that he can soon partner once more with Jamala Musiala in the Germany national team, especially in view of the World Cup in the United States, Canada and Mexico in summer.

Wirtz and Musiala represent Germany's young generation and are expected to lead the national team to success. Their partnership brought a lot of hope to the fans during Euro 2024 and the duo was nicknamed "Wusiala."

"Of course I hope that Jamal will be 100% fit again, also for himself," Wirtz said.

While he was the star in the 4-3 against Switzerland on Friday, with two stunning goals after a pair of assists, Musiala wasn't even included in the squad due to a pain reaction in the ankle he severely injured last summer.

Musiala broke his fibula and ruptured ankle ligaments at the Club World Cup last July and did not play again until January. He suffered the pain reaction during a March 10 Champions League last 16 match against Atalanta.

Wirtz said that he asks Musiala "from time to time how's it going" and wishes him a good recovery.

"Of course he can help us a lot. That's why I'll be happy if he's back soon."

The Liverpool forward knows the pain of missing a World Cup as he couldn't compete at the tournament in 2022 because he didn't recover properly from a knee injury.

"I know what's like when you're injured for a long time, it's not pretty. You simply want to be back on the pitch and play without problems," Wirtz said.

Germany continue their warm-up for the World Cup on Monday against Ghana. At the tournament, they will face Curaçao, Ivory Coast and Ecuador.
