The National Football League (NFL) will return to Munich for regular season games in 2026 and 2028 which means that Germany will have a game every year until 2029.
Munich's Allianz Arena, the home of football top club Bayern Munich, previously hosted NFL American football matches in 2022 and 2024.
This year the German game took place in Berlin's Olympic Stadium, which will also be the venue for one match each in 2027 and 2029. Frankfurt staged two matches in 2023.
"Germany is of huge strategic importance for the NFL in Europe, and our return to Munich signals the league's long-term commitment to playing games in the market," NFL head for German speaking countries, Alexander Steinforth, said.
Munich mayor for sport Verena Dietl said: "The previous games have not only won the hearts of fans, they have also strengthened our successful cooperation with the NFL. Together, we are committed to promoting football in Germany and spreading the palpable enthusiasm for the sport far beyond the stadium."
The NFL is yet to announce which teams will play in Munich next year.
In the first match in 2022, Tom Brady's Tampa Bay Buccaneers beat the Seattle Seahawks 21-16, with Brady raving about the German fans. Last year, the Carolina Panthers beat the New York Giants 20-17 in overtime.
The NFL has been expanding outside the United States over the past years. Apart from Munich, confirmed 2026 games overseas are two in London and one each in Melbourne and Rioi de Janeiro.
