Bayern's Kompany says first half wasn't good enough as run ends

Bundesliga leaders Bayern Munich head into the international break with mixed emotions after their run of 16 wins across all competitions came to an end in a 2-2 draw at Union Berlin.
It could have been a lot worse on Saturday had Harry Kane not equalized in stoppage time, but coach Vincent Kompany was unhappy with his players for the first time this term.
"We weren’t in the game in the first half, that wasn’t good enough from us. It’s about details: Union’s strength from set pieces is well known," the Belgian told reporters.
"The last 60 minutes weren’t a bad performance from us, even though Union were always a threat. But we came up against opponents who did a lot of things right.”
Union defender Danilho Doekhi scored twice as the home side's direct approach caused havoc in the Bayern defence. Only a wonder goal from Luis Diaz kept the champions afloat before Kane's late intervention.
Kompany added: "Luckily I prepared my players for this match for three days. I expected this, I wasn’t surprised at all."
Bayern top the table by six points after 10 games and next host Freiburg on November 22 after the international window.
