Bayern Munich's 5-1 Champions League win at Pafos on Tuesday evening was the club's ninth consecutive win in competitive games, a mark previously achieved by coaching great Jupp Heynckes.

"Nine wins in nine competitive games, dear Vincent (Kompany). The last one who achieved that was Jupp Heynckes in the 2012-13 season. It's been a while," CEO Jan-Christian Dreesen said in his banquet speech after the game.

Led by Heynckes, Bayern won the Champions League, the Bundesliga and the German Cup in the 2012-13 season and coach Kompany will now hope to repeat that achievement.

"I said very clearly before the first game that our dream is to be there (in the final) and have a chance to win it. Winning the Champions League is very difficult. But now we're in the midst of the competition, and we have to focus on just winning the next game," Kompany said.

Joshua Kimmich said that the team's "flow is no coincidence," while top striker Harry Kane, who scored two goals against Pafos, said that they want to "build on the momentum we've had since the start of the season."

"It maybe looked easy but that’s down to how we played: with our pressing, the second balls, how we played through the lines. We have this momentum and desperately want to keep it up," Kane said.
