Germany coach Julian Nagelsmann has said that the nation is lacking top talent in several positions and that he supported calls for more specialised training.

Nagelsmann said at an amateur football weekend event at the campus of the German FA that there are "some positions that are not filled super good."

Nagelsmann named strikers, full backs and defensive midfielders as the positions in question where improvement is needed.

He backed recent statements from Eintracht Frankfurt board member for sport Markus Krösche by saying that "specialist training is important. We definitely have some catching up to do in Germany.

"It is important to specialise from a certain age on. Not at very young age. There training must be variable," Nagelsmann said.

He said that DFB talent director Hannes Wolf was "currently trying to develop a system where many clubs offer good training, increasing the likelihood that we will get specialists."
