Kompany: Bayern won't make things easier for Hoffenheim

"We've won the title with lots of hard work and can't give any opponents the gift of allowing them a good afternoon against us," coach Vincent Kompany said in a news conference.

Hoffenheim are not fully safe from possible relegation. They are three points ahead of Heidenheim in the relegation play-off spot and have a superior goal difference of six.

Kompany gave the squad a few days days off after the game against Borussia Mönchengladbach on Saturday and some Bayern players have reportedly taken a trip to the Spanish holiday island of Ibiza.

Thomas Müller, Harry Kane and goalkeeper Manuel Neuer were among 13 players who according to the Bild paper had made the trip on Sunday, after receiving the trophy for the Bundesliga title the previous day.

The trip was widely criticized because the season is not over yet, but Kompany said "that was a subject for the media."

"The subject for me was Hoffenheim and preparing for the game. We've now had the whole week to prepare for this game. We've had a lot of time to prepare. We've had a good week," he said.

Bayern players had already planned an Ibiza trip after clinching the title some two weeks ago, but that was stopped by the club because it would set a bad example with the league still in progress.

Bayern will officially celebrate the title next Sunday on the Munich city hall balcony - together with the women's team which has clinched a first ever German league and cup double this season.

"We're really excited. It was our big goal to bring the Bundesliga back to Munich," Kompany said.

Concerns over Musiala's Nations League participation

In view of the Nations League final four and the Club World Cup in the United States, Bayern board member for sport Max Eberl called for caution when it comes to Jamal Musiala.

The midfielder has been sidelined since the beginning of April due to a muscle injury. On Thursday, Bayern said that he has started training with the ball again.

"Players want to play for their country. We'll talk about what's best. But first and foremost is that the guys are fit and healthy," Eberl said.

Musiala has time to recover and play for Germany in the Nations League final four on June 4-8, with the Club World Cup starting on June 15.

Bayern, however, are concerned over overload of work for the player right after an injury.

"And then comes the new season. And then comes the 2026 World Cup. There's a lot to discuss and clarify," Eberl said.

Kompaby added: "We need to look at things medically. It wasn't a simple injury. Obviously we always support our guys in playing for their national teams. We'll discuss things in the coming weeks," Kompany said."
