Germany recorded a rise in politically motivated crimes in 2025, with far-right circles responsible for the most violent offences.

Police registered a total of 85,837 offences with a political motivation last year, almost 2% more than in 2024.

There was also a slight rise in violent offences, with 1,598 of 4,156 being attributed to far-right individuals, marking a 7.4% rise.

Rights groups in Germany such as Amnesty International have warned of an uptick in Islamophobic and homophobic hate crimes, with Pride marches increasingly being subject to attacks.

Meanwhile, violent crimes by left-wing offenders surged by almost 43% to 1,087 cases.

A decline was also observed in violent offences that were presumed to be politically motivated but could not be classified under any of the usual categories, falling by 16% to 669 violent offences.

Religiously motivated violent offences rose by 13% to 98 crimes.
